Donations and Funds

For over 30 years, Loring Nicollet Alternative School (LNAS) has offered students a unique curriculum and learning environment.  Throughout its existence LNAS has aspired to encourage learning for the sake of enrichment and growth.  LNAS has also promoted community awareness and responsibility while validating individual experiences. Those who have attended LNAS routinely speak of the positive influence the school has had on their lives.

As you are probably aware, educational institutions throughout Minnesota are feeling the strain of budget deficits.  Although LNAS has sufficient funding to cover the basic costs of the current school year, there remains a financial need for items that supplement learning.  These items include computer technology, art supplies, science equipment, field trips and post-secondary scholarships.  Because of this need, LNAS will begin accepting contributions for a new LNAS Fund.

The goal of this new fund is to raise money to maintain quality education and to promote lifelong learning.  The staff of LNAS will control all funds raised through this effort.  Each year, the staff will decide where to allocate resources based on what is best for our students.

We ask you, as an LNAS student, graduate, family member or interested member of the community, to become a contributor to this new fund.  We hope that you reflect upon the impact the school has had on your life and the lives of others.  In addition, we hope you consider how your contribution could affect the lives of current LNAS students.

On the inside of the return envelope you will find suggested donation amounts.  Please keep in mind that they are only suggestions and you may certainly give more or less depending on your financial means and comfort level.  Contributions are tax deductible as allowable by law.  You will receive confirmation of your gift for your tax records.  Donations sent by mail should be in the form of a check made payable to “LNB/LNAS Fund.”  Cash donations can be made directly to the school's office.

It is our hope that graduates, their families and interested community members will become annual contributors to the program.  Each spring, LNAS will mail a newsletter to inform contributors of how the school is performing and how your money is being used.
